The Charlotte County Jazz Society presents Big Band Jazz and Swing with The Fil Lorenz Orchestra featuring vocalist Walt Andrus on February 10, 2025, at 7:00 at The Charlotte Performing Arts Center (CPAC), 701 Carmalita St., Punta Gorda The Fil Lorenz Orchestra is a high-voltage, crowd-pleasing big band born of the blues, with a sound defined by a searing, relentless horn section and an exhilarating, sometimes challenging repertoire of well-known burners and fascinating originals alike. Saxophonist/arranger Fil Lorenz has assembled a musical cast of the highest standard, bringing some of Central Florida’s most accomplished jazz veterans together with some of the most promising up-and-coming players. Saxophonist Fil Lorenz was born and raised in San Francisco and has been active on the national music scene since completing military service in 1998. From touring the world as a member of the Glenn Miller or Harry James orchestras to performing with artists such as Tony Bennett, The Four Freshmen, Huey Lewis and the News, and many others, Lorenz draws from a wide range of musical experiences. Vocalist Walt Andrus is one of the country’s top interpreters of the Grant American Songbook, Mr. Andrus spent 15 years touring internationally with The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra. Other recent performances have included The Nelson Riddle Orchestra, The Naples Jazz Orchestra, and various national Symphony and Pops Orchestras. Charlotte County Jazz Society members are free, non-members are $25, payable at the door, cash or check only. Students are free.
